Mehndi … my first

16 11 2008

I had my first mehndi on my hand last weekend! Thanks to M who was so patient putting Mehndi for many of us. Really had fun that day. :)

You really need to take care to make sure that the color stays on the skin.

—————————–

First, mehndi paste was applied on the skin.

After the mehndi paste was dry, lemon and sugar mixture was applied to the skin to increase the acidity of the mehndi design and the adherence of the paste to the skin.

For the best result, try to leave the mehndi paste on the skin as long as possible (a few hours) so that the color will turn out dark.

Definition from Wikipedia,

Mehndi is the application of Henna as a temporary form of skin decoration, in South Asia, the Middle East, North Africa and Somalia as well as expatriate communities from these areas. Mehndi decorations became fashionable in the West in the late 1990s, where they are sometimes called henna tattoos.

Impressed by Anonymous’s patience

15 11 2008

I am deeply impressed with Anonymous’s patience! I have known Anonymous for quite some time and I just realized that Anonymous is such a patient person. Deeply impressed!

This strength was discovered when I asked regarding the “optional coverages” for car rental. I wanted to know if I can skip any of those coverages. Anonymous took the extra mile to point out which coverages are covered by which credit cards and which coverages are needed.

In the end, after researching and scouring for information online, we Anonymous decided that all the coverages are needed. Oh well..

~IMPRESSED!~

Have to post this coz I am really impressed!

My masterpiece. The design was suppose to be way more complicated, but I did not complete it. I took too long to even reach this stage! The design was a cat, btw.

Diwali performance :)

1 11 2008

The Indian community at my workplace organizes performance annually in conjunction with Diwali. About two months ago, the organizer sent an email to the company internal mailing asking for performers. I decided to volunteer for the performance, thinking that it would be fun. Plus, I also thought that I would get to know more people, learn more about Indian culture and get to wear Indian costume!

I am really glad that I decided to give it a shot. I get to know some wonderful friends and I truly enjoyed every moment with them. :)

Need to snap a few group pictures after our performance. This is my favorite.

Our tattoos :)

Nice flower. I am not sure what is this called. Really took a lot of effort to do this. However, at the end of the day, this flower was vacuumed :(
