Her story

13 11 2007

I met her early this month when I went for a training. She smiled at me and her face was really radiant. She also dressed boldly, either wearing interesting jeweleries or bright colors. We went out for lunch together, she, my colleague and I. During those lunch breaks, we got to know her better.

She goes to Africa about once a year to visit and donate stuffs to the less privileged. When I heard that, I really respected her. Then, she mentioned that she undergone chemotherapy and was bald, but she liked her new short hairstyle. It is easy to style.

She was diagnosed with two cancers in two years. However, she talked comfortably about the cancers. Despite all that, she joined marathon. She was really nice. She has a positive outlook in life. If you see her, you would think that she is in *the pink of health. She looked so radiant and cheerful.

I just wanted to write about her and share her story.

Professor Randy Pausch: Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams

26 09 2007

I was browsing my mailing list yesterday and being an alumni from CMU, the email entitled ‘CMU Professor’s Last Lecture!’ surely caught my attention. The email contains a link to Professor Randy Pausch’s lecture “Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams” delivered on September 18, 2007.

I was not never taught by him nor seen him personally, but nevertheless, I was inspired and motivated by his speech. After listening to his speech, I was spurned to work harder, achieve more, enjoy life and lead a fulfilling life. I looked back on how I have lived my life and what more that can be done. Professor Pausch has achieved alot and helped others along the way, realizing their dreams.

Some of the quotes which I find very meaningful include

‘enabling dreams of others are more fun’

‘when you are screwing up and nobody say anything to you anymore, that means they gave up’

‘experience is what you get when you didn’t get what you wanted’

Professor Randy Pausch’s speech really made an impact in my life and I am sure to others too.
